Clinton Football Club

In 2021, the Clinton Football Club lost one of their life members to cancer. Since then, every year the community rallies to make their Pink Day happen, uniting in pink to show their incredible commitment to supporting the McGrath Foundation.

Kristy, a member of the club and one of the organisers of the Pink Day highlights the remarkable impact that their local McGrath Breast Care Nurse Sally Haley and the McGrath Foundation have had on countless patients and individuals. She emphasises the crucial and essential support that McGrath Breast Care Nurses provide and wanted to acknowledge that through the Pink Day.

The Club rallies their community by posting and promoting their Pink Day on their Facebook page which has over 500 members. This year’s event was attended by Sally, who spoke about the importance of breast cancer awareness, and the value of having free support available to those experiencing breast cancer.

The local community participated enthusiastically throughout the day, cheering on the seven teams playing, making donations, buying raffle tickets and getting involved in all things pink. Each team donned pink jerseys which were later purchased by guests, with $10 from each purchase supporting the McGrath Foundation. The club also had over 40 prizes donated to the raffle by local businesses. However, one of the biggest highlights of the day, was when U17 player Nate shaved his locks off to show his support for the cause.

Kristy’s advice to others who are looking to organise their own fundraising event is to make it fun, make it pink and the community will come together in numbers to support the event. The Clinton Football Club finished off the day with a pink party to celebrate all their efforts.

Clinton Football Club’s annual Pink Day stands as a powerful testament to the community spirit of McGrath Foundation supporters. Through their unwavering dedication and enthusiasm, they have not only honoured a beloved life member, but they continue to show support for a cause that affects their community every day. As Kristy aptly puts it, by making fundraising events vibrant, inclusive, and meaningful, communities can unite in solidarity and make a real difference in the lives of others.
