25kms for 250 nurses by 2025!

By Hailee English

Week 3 and week 4.

Late posting my swim because of assessments and sport. Im sorry.
I finished my swim with 3 days to spare and one lap over what my challenge was because Mum thought she missed a lap when she was counting.
251 laps for the Mcgrath Foundations goal of 250 breast care nurses by 2025.

Week two complete

I decided to brave the cold and do all my swims in the outdoor pool. Doing so many laps in a 25m pool was annoying (4 lengths equal only 1 lap) at least outdoors it seemed to go quicker. I dropped my pink swimmers for my black body ones thinking it may keep me warmer, it didn't help, next time I might do it in a wetsuit.
This week I got 80 laps done. That means I have 9 more kilometers to go to complete my challenge.

Week one complete.

I made a late start due to having 5 weeks off all sport with a tendon injury so my first few laps were slower than usual. My first KM took me 41 minutes. I picked up my pace and managed to take 6 minutes off my next KM. My first day I hit the 50m outdoor pool. it was so cold. My next attempt was the indoor 25m pool. It was warmer but doing so many lengths i was getting annoyed with the tumble turns. I might try and brave the outdoor pool all the time.
Its hard to find time to get to the pool with netball 5 days a week but I managed to fit it in. I was a bit exhausted after week 1.

I have 17kms to go to complete my challenge of 25 kms for 250 McGrath breast care nurses by 2025.

Pink is the colour of determination

This May, I'll be making a splash for the McGrath Foundation in support of women already diagnosed with breast cancer.

I will be diving in to Roselands pool and pushing through 25kms during the month of May.

That's 250 laps for the McGrath Foundation's goal of 250 McGrath breast care nurses by 2025.

I have been involved with fundraising for the McGrath Foundation through my Mums charity event, Frannie's Day, and now Im helping out by doing my own. (Frannie was my Nan, and she lost her fight against breast cancer before I was born.)

If you want to support my 25km swim with a small donation, it would be awesome! I will post my daily laps and photos as I go.

Thank you so much for your support.
