Tara’s journey to educate others

By Tara Maynard

Pink is the colour of care

I’m fundraising to ensure that no one goes through breast cancer without the care of a McGrath Breast Care Nurse.

A breast cancer diagnosis can change your life in an instant and the impact can be felt right through your family, friends, and community.

Going through this journey myself and pretending I’m still somewhat super woman has been tough! I’m only just into my journey and have ten years to go! Diagnosed E+, P+ and HER2+ gives me a longer road but I am so optimistic that I will beat this beast! My family, beautiful friends and work colleagues who have also become beautiful friends, have all been an amazing support, and that my friends is so important. I want to raise the awareness to get your boobies checked, because I was one of those lazy, head in the sand, no family history, mother and sister have never had mammograms, busy life, work four children, sort of person! well I just didn’t take the time and really thought because of the family history chances were that it couldn’t happen to me, so never went for a mammogram. I’m 52 years young, a doting mum and Nanny and I want to be here to see them all grow up! And I will!

McGrath Breast Care Nurses help individuals and their families affected by breast cancer by providing invaluable physical, psychological, and emotional support from the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment.

Supporting me to raise funds for this great cause is easy and you can help the McGrath Foundation reach their goal of 250 nurses by 2025, to work towards ensuring no one misses out on care.

Thank you so much for your support.
