Steve (Sport) gets some words of support from the UK

Getting closer to the start of our adventure!

Meet the Team: Michael Thompson

Michael “Mr. T” Thompson - Support / PR
I am a qualified automotive technician and mechanical engineer. I have worked with a number of OEMs in technical and training roles for many new model launches, pre-production vehicle testing etc. I now run my own business developing and delivering training programs for various companies. Pretty much I have been playing with anything with wheels since I was a teenager. Im also dragging my very talented son (Will) along to help capture the trip on film. When Martyn asked if I would like to be involved with this adventure, it was a no brainer, instant “yes” from me. Especially as it is all for a great cause which is very close to my heart. I was 28 years old when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, 30 years ago. I know firsthand how important Care nurses and support systems are to helping people get through their Diagnosis.
Meet The Team: William Thompson

Meet The Team: Stephen Maitland

Stephen Maitland - Support
I am a retired banker and company director – and do not ride a motorbike! I live in Brisbane and remain active in the community – I am still a patrolling Surf Lifesaver. Over the years many friends have been treated, and succumbed, to various cancers – including some in regional and remote areas, and my son’s episode of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2014. My role in this event is to drive a support vehicle; act as a First Aider; assist with the administration of the event; and help to get the team over the line with the best possible level of donations.
Meet The Team: Leigh Roberts

Leigh “Leroy” Roberts - Rider
I am a company director in Real Estate on the Sunshine Coast. A mechanic by trade, I have always been a motorbike enthusiast and love to ride - also sharing a passion for old cars, sports and outdoor adventures. Whilst my family has had over the past 5 years some cancer battles - losing some loved ones and my younger sister battling breast cancer (pleased to report out the other side now) - but wouldn’t have been done without the amazing support and practitioners in their field and just can’t praise them enough. This charity ride was an idea amongst some great mates sharing a friendship for some 25 years through our motor dealer days together. We all share the same passions in motorbikes and having been touched by cancers - we just wanted to give back, so look out KCAAA 25, here we come!
Meet The Team: Shane Lake

Shane “Kiwi” Lake - Rider
Owner of Dynamic Automotive Diagnostics, and CrossFit TARIS
I’m a mechanic by trade and specialize in diagnostics & programming of modern vehicles. I’ve been riding motorbikes since the age of 12 and have done a couple of big trips on my bike. I’ve ridden from Brisbane to Cape York and back; and out to the Simpson desert in 2012 and 2014. I love being out in the middle of nowhere, jumping on my bike in the morning and heading off to the next place. I have been doing CrossFit for 10 years and enjoy how it keeps me fit and young. I also love spending time with my family & friends.
One of my early mentors and close friend from when I was a teenager, passed away from cancer several years ago. He was a fit and healthy man before getting cancer, it sucks! I’ve also got two children with brittle bone disease which we have had a lot of help with over the years both at home and in hospital and know how much this type of help is desperately needed.
I hope you can donate to this worthy cause and follow us average riders on our bikes as we make our way across Australia.
Meet The Team: Steve Griffiths

Steve “Sport” Griffiths - Rider
From agricultural college into the building industry, I grasped a knack of being able to do anything. I started motorsport very young with Motox and competed at national level. This went to 4 wheels and rallying where I met Martyn and Jo in the late 80’s …I won a few awards and competed on numerous World rallies…winning in Finland as N1 team leader (on the tools) to 2nd in Belgium as a driver. I’ve lived in the USA and France and built 9 of my homes complete. Now I restore WW2 vehicles and have finished my cancer treatment for my throat with 6 weeks of chemotherapy and radiotherapy…I have no saliva but aim to still do this challenge for a great cause.
Meet The Team: Todd Eveleigh

Todd “Toddy” Eveleigh - Rider
Service Manager for Teammoto Yamaha Sunshine Coast.
Passion for anything that has wheels and an engine whether it be Off road Racing, Hill climbs or motorcycle track days. The adventure style motorcycle riding is a new thing for me, but have enjoyed learning with a bunch of mates I have known for over 25 years.
Cancer sucks in any form. I lost my father to Leukemia and have seen people suffer and survive - and I have also lost friends along the way to different forms of cancer. To be a part of this, knowing what we raise will help someone out, is why I’m doing it and ask everyone that reads this to get behind it and give what you can.
So follow us on our journey, you will see some beautiful country and enjoy a few laughs along the way.
Meet the Team : Martyn Southall

Martyn “The Guv” Southall - Rider, Organiser and Support.
A company director, motorcycle enthusiast, open water swimmer and adventurer! I live in Brisbane, yet at every opportunity away exploring remote parts of Australia. Two days prior to one trip to Central Australia in 2022, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. That battle “raged” or 3 years with, fortunately, a successful outcome - thanks to support we received from many people. My role in this event is as primary organiser: Route & logistics planning, development of bikes, preparation of a support vehicle, co-driver/navigator, and help to assist the team achieve their goal of raising $80,000 to support a Breast Care Nurse for remote locations.

Kicking Cancers Ass Across Australia is a charity motorbike ride raising money for cancer. With over 25 years of friendship between them, our 4 riders are using this opportunity to raise money for an incredible cause, while experiencing a trip of a lifetime. All coming together over their passion for the motorbike industry as well as being individually affected by cancer in some way. This charity ride not only allows them to give back to their families but also to the community. This ride could also not be possible without the involvement of our 5 person support team.
Our goal is to contribute to the McGrath Foundation to help ensure no one goes through breast cancer without the care of a McGrath Breast Care Nurse. All support from our family, friends and community alike would be much appreciated to support this worthy cause.
