Moving for Breast Cancer Awareness - In memory of Susu

By Roseanne and Rihan Rofaeel

Pink is the colour of care

Every day in Australia, 57 people are diagnosed with breast cancer. A few years ago, our Aunty Suad Rofaeel — who was always Susu to us — was one of them. Since then, what once was a heartbreaking statistic became a reality that shaped our family forever. Our strong, beautiful, selfless, loving, devoted and inspiring Aunty fought her battle with cancer with unwavering faith and utmost grace, with a smile that never faded, even up until to her final moments in May of last year.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month but every day, until forevermore, we remember Susu and every one who has fought or is fighting cancer and we will continue to pray, hope, donate and fundraise towards finding a cure.

This month, we will both be walking/running/moving every day to fundraise for the McGrath Foundation who provide an invaluable service through their Breast Care Nurses so that no one misses out on receiving physical, psychological and emotional support for free during their experience with breast cancer.

If anyone epitomised what it means to look after someone in need, it was Susu.

Please help us reach our target in her honour and loving memory!

Thank you,

Rose and Rihan (sisters who were blessed to call this remarkable woman Aunty)
