DOROTHY BANKS DAY 2024 – 42nd Anniversary
The Dorothy Banks day recognises and celebrates the life of Dorothy Banks, who joined the Redcliffe golf club in 1967 and was our President for three years from 1978 to 1980. Sadly, Dorothy passed away in 1982 after a brief battle with cancer. Former president Jill Adams (1981-1982) introduced the fundraising concept to honour her. The cold-water station at the halfway house was donated to the memory of Dorothy.
Tuesday 1st October 2024 the Redcliffe golf club will again be a sea of pink as the RGC Women host this important event. In the past 4 years (despite Covid) we have raised over $20,000 for cancer charities and support organisations including Love Your Sister, Leukemia Foundation, Australian Cancer Research Foundation and Be Uplifted.
We are looking to raise the bar this year and invite all members and friends of Redcliffe Golf club to get behind us in fundraising either by direct donation or by donating raffle prizes. In 2024 we are focussed on breast cancer support and our charity of choice is the amazing McGrath Foundation. I’m fundraising to ensure that no one goes through breast cancer without the care of a McGrath Breast Care Nurse.

A breast cancer diagnosis can change your life in an instant and the impact can be felt right through your family, friends, and community.

McGrath Breast Care Nurses help individuals and their families affected by breast cancer by providing invaluable physical, psychological, and emotional support from the time of diagnosis and throughout treatment.

Supporting me to raise funds for this great cause is easy and you can help the McGrath Foundation reach their goal of 250 nurses by 2025, to work towards ensuring no one misses out on care.

Event Details

We are holding an Open Womens Golf Day - Dorothy Banks Day on Tuesday 1st October is the final day. This annual event is now in its 42nd year in honour of past President Dorothy Banks. We will be holding a giant raffle and some other fun events still in planning stage.
